Cleaning, Wisdom Teeth and Family

In the middle of July, I was going crazy with how gross the house had gotten with the all the kids being home.  So I told them with a weeks notice that the following week we were going to scrub out the house. From top to bottom, baseboards, blinds, cabinets, the whole nine yards.  I let the kids pick which two days we would clean and then told them that they had to help since they were the ones who made the most mess and also, they needed to earn money for school shoes and clothes.

Much to my surprise, they all worked their little bums off.  No one complained and we got the house so clean.  It felt so good!  It all needs to be done again and I don't have my helpers home to help me this time which I'm sad about.

One of the nights I was able to sneak away and have dinner with a couple of friends from our BYU Marriage Ward.  I haven't seen these girls in years! It was fun to catch up but sad also to hear of everyone's hard times with their kids and such.  It made me so grateful for the trials I have to deal with.

Blake got his wisdom teeth out and all I can say is he was so boring! I was hoping he would be funny and spill the beans about his inner most thoughts but no. He was normal and he didn't even swell. I think he took some Tylenol once. He slept most of the day and by late afternoon, he was fine.

My friend Dorthy was a saint and took the other kids for the day boating so that I could deal and help Blake in peace. She text me this picture half way though the day.

My family all got together that next Saturday for a family friends funeral.  It was the first time our whole family was together since the ugly divorce was final of my parents.  It was more than uncomfortable to sit as a family, my dad of coarse acted like nothing was wrong but we didn't want to cause a scene at a funeral.  I wish I had a picture of Allen!  I have know Allen Hollingshead my whole life. Our families lived by each other in CA and I remember once being at their house for a swim and hiding with his daughter Julie so that I wouldn't have to go home. My family left with out me and we thought we were so sneaky until Allen found us.

Unfortunately, right after the funeral, my whole family went over to my Nana's to say goodbye.  She had fallen and broken her hip but because she was just shy of 102, the dr's wouldn't do anything for her except make her comfortable.  It was really nice to have all of my siblings there with my mom and a couple of my aunts and cousins. We didn't know how much time we had left with her but it was good to say goodbye before she was in a coma and unresponsive.

While I was at the funeral for Allen and seeing my Nana, Jason took the other kids to his company party out at Thanksgiving Point.  They had a great time as always and Livy loved her face painting. She insisted I take a picture of her.
